Caley Watts is a singer/songwriter who grew up along the riverbanks, mountain ranges, and ancient conifers that fill the Great Bear Rainforest. Her music, which is a blend of roots and rock, draws heavily from the pace and beauty of her home.
Watts is a member of the Saddle Lake Cree Nation in Treaty 6 territory, which covers parts of Alberta.
"My ties to Saddle Lake Cree Nation come from my mom’s side... I come from a family of powwow singers, and I looked up to them a lot growing up," explains Watts. "My mom really encouraged my music, and that’s where my connection to it began."
Watts was drawn to the writing of Joni Mitchell, Lord Huron, and Crosby, Stills and Nash in her formative years. Coming from a family of artists, she discovered early on that music offered her the truest path to personal growth and happiness.
